Our Navajo Churro Project

Our Navajo Churro project began with three bummer ram lambs that we raised.  A year later we each received a ewe lamb from Debby Bradford and our flock began. The Navajo Churro's are a fun breed of sheep to raise. They offer much variety in color and we never had any lambing trouble. We sheared our own sheep then washed, carded, spun, and wove some of the fleeces. Though we don't have very many Navajo Churro's any longer, we still love and support the breed and our local group.

See our Blog for an update on lambs and the for sale page for available lambs.

Valentine is the lambs name, she is a reverse black badger

Carina   Bred For February 2009 Lambs

Carina was born in the spring of 2006 and her mother, a rather old ewe, couldn't take care of her and her brother so Debby gave her to Veronica. Carina went everywhere with us, to Eureka to walk among the redwoods and sleep in a hotel bed. She won Champion Navajo Churro Yearling Ewe at Boonville fair 2007. She wore diapers and traveled to see many friends. This year she had a single spotted ewe lamb who we named Therin.

Blessing  Bred for February  2009 Lambs

Blessing was born to Mallory's first ewe Promise. Though her mother was wild and we didn't bottle feed her, Blessing was human friendly from the moment she was born. Blessing won Champion Ewe Lamb at Boonville 2007 and Champion Yearling Ewe at Redwood Empire Fair in 2008.

Comptche

Comptche was the first lamb ever born to Deanna Thomas and a proven breeder. Since we no longer have any registered rams of our own he's spending the fall at our farm, very happily in the pastures with Carina and Blessing.

Saying Goodbye

After our showing our sheep at Redwood Empire Fair for the last time, we took all of our Navajo Churro flock, save for Carina and Blessing, and donated them to the Navajo's around four corners, where they will be used for their wool.
